What is BOLI?
Bank-Owned Life Insurance is life insurance a bank buys on the lives of key employees, with the bank itself as the beneficiary. Banks use it to informally fund employee benefit obligations and offset the cost of those benefits, and the cash value grows tax-deferred on the bank's books. It shows up on quarterly bank call reports, which is where this ranking comes from.
